Disability employment awareness series: Jeffrey Davis, McDermott+

November is “National Family Caregivers Month.” Families are often the primary source of support for older adults and people with disabilities, and in the US, more than 53 million family caregivers provide unpaid care.

October 2025 was the 80th anniversary of “National Disability Employment Awareness Month”, which is an annual recognition of the positive impact of people with disabilities and an acknowledgement of the importance of increasing opportunities for people with disabilities in the American workforce, including those with mental health conditions and other nonobvious disabilities.

We’re celebrating these two initiatives with a special series of our Health Policy Breakroom podcast, honoring the people who maneuver disabilities and are vital to our community and our workforce.

In our first episode, Kayla Holgash is joined by Jeffrey Davis, McDermott+ health policy director and primary author of our Regs & Eggs blog. Jeffrey and Kayla discuss Jeffrey’s personal experience with disability and how it has related to his career, his upbringing, his support system, and what he wishes more people knew about working and living with disabilities.
