M+ Healthcare Preview: Week of October 26

COUNT DOWN UNTIL THE ELECTION.

  • THE ELECTION IS ONLY A FEW DAYS AWAY! It is amazing to think that we are just over a week away from the election. Stakeholders are turning their attention to action that can take place during the Lame Duck session and also during the first 100 days of the 117th Congress. There are a number of questions to consider when thinking ahead: How does a Democratic sweep change the outlook for Lame Duck and the 117th Congress? How does a Trump re-election shape the next four years in health policy? What does a Biden Administration look like and how will they tackle healthcare policy? How does personnel change regardless of election outcome? How does committee leadership and membership change, and does Party leadership remain the same? The team at McDermottPlus has looked at all these questions to help you think through the election implications. Please make sure you have checked out our election content here.
  • POST-ELECTION WEBINAR. In collaboration with the health lawyers at McDermott Will & Emery, McDermottPlus is hosting a Post-Election Webinar on November 5 from 12:00 – 2:15PM (EST). We will be reviewing policy implications relating to healthcare delivery and reimbursement, the Affordable Care Act, and future healthcare policies that are likely to be hot topics during the Lame Duck and for 2021, including prescription drug reform, surprise billing, and transparency. Please be sure to join us for the webinar!
  • SUPREME COURT NOMINATION VOTING. The Senate is expected to vote today to confirm Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the United States Supreme Court. This is expected to the final roll call vote before the election on November 3.
