The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is requesting feedback on eliminating Medicare specific regulations requiring supervision that exceeds other federal or state laws. CMS states that certain Medicare scope of practice limitations are burdensome and limit the number of healthcare professionals that are practicing to the top of their licenses.
CMS is requesting additional recommendations from stakeholders in how the agency can alter Medicare scope of practice requirements to reduce clinician burden and improve beneficiary care. The deadline to submit recommendations to CMS is January 17, 2020. Additional information about the request for feedback can be found here.
