On Friday, November 1, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation released an informal Request for Information (RFI) for feedback on the potential Oncology Care First (OCF) Model. In response to numerous requests from stakeholders, CMS extended the deadline to submit comments until December 13, 2019. The RFI can be found here.
The goal of such an oncology care model is to test whether a prospective payment for oncology services, drugs, and care would improve outcomes for Medicare beneficiaries and reduce overall spending for the Medicare program. CMS recently held a public listening session on the model, soliciting feedback from stakeholders.
More information about the model can be found on the CMS OCF website.
