The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) has placed discussion of the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and Advanced Alternative Payment Models (APMs) on the agenda for their March 2 meeting scheduled to be held in Washington, DC.
Agenda materials indicate that MedPAC will be discussing a new potential path for the MIPS program, options for better supporting primary care, and modifying Advanced APM payment arrangements.
MedPAC is an independent congressional agency established by the Balanced Budget Act of 1997 (P.L. 105-33) to advise the U.S. Congress on issues affecting the Medicare program. More information on MedPAC is available on their website.
