The Government Accountability Office (GAO) is accepting nominations for two open positions on the Health Information Technology Advisory Committee (HITAC). The GAO is seeking individuals with technical expertise on health care quality, system functions, privacy, security, and the electronic exchange and its use of health information. Potential nominees include providers, ancillary health care workers, consumers, individuals from health plans, health information technology developers, researchers, patients, relevant Federal agencies, and individuals
Letters of nomination and resumes should be submitted no later than September 27, 2019. Submission materials should be sent via email to: HITCommittee@gao.gov. Appointments will be effective January 1, 2020.
The 21st Century Cures Act established HITAC to provide recommendations to the National Coordinator for Health Information Technologies on policies, standards, implementation specifications, and certification criteria, relating to the implementation of a health information technology infrastructure, nationally and locally, that advances the electronic access, exchange, and use of health information.
