CMS Approves Drug Price Negotiations for Colorado Medicaid

February 27, 2019

Following in the footsteps of Oklahoma and Michigan, Colorado has become the latest state to receive approval from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for negotiating drug prices for Medicaid recipients using value-based contracting arrangements. The State Plan Amendment, based on a model agreement submitted to CMS in late 2018 and effective October 1, 2018, allows the state to use supplemental rebates as the vehicle for implementing these arrangements. The State Plan Amendment is available here.
