CMS Delays Effective Date of the Medicare Coverage of Innovative Technology Final Rule

Today, CMS published a notice of delay of the Medicare Coverage of Innovative Technology and Definition of Reasonable and Necessary rule (referred to as MCIT). CMS will delay the effective date of the MCIT rule to May 15, 2021 for further review of the of fact, law, and policy raised by the rule. The effective date of the MCIT rule was originally March 15, 2021. The agency is seeking public comment on a number of potential concerns regarding the MCIT rule with comments due April 16, 2021.
