The website content manager plays a major role in advising on website architecture and user experience, developing a content strategy and crafting web- and mobile-optimized content that aligns with McDermott’s global branding and messaging frameworks. The website content manager works in support of overall Firm initiatives and branding, both independently and under minimal supervision, and relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

As a Website Content Manager you will:

  • Play an active role in McDermott’s website refresh, which will include a review of website architecture and user experience, to ensure that structure and content aligns with the Firm brand and client experience goals
  • Develop a content strategy for refreshing brand language and messaging optimized for web and mobile, making proactive recommendations based on experience and data to grow our subscriber base
  • Ensure website content is on-brand, with style and quality consistency, and optimized for both within-site search (to improve user experience) and external SEO
  • Monitor web traffic and user engagement to evaluate content performance through analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) and make data-driven decisions to enhance content effectiveness
  • Remain up to date on trends and best practices in the website and mobile user experience space; create accompanying guidance to share with the broader marketing team
  • Draft content that adheres to Smart Brevity principles and McDermott’s brand tone, style and messaging
  • Review and edit select website copy to support marketing goals, including service and industry page content, client alerts and resource centers
  • Develop, manage and maintain content governance policy across website to ensure standards and best practices are followed
  • Coordinate with external editorial vendors and internal team members to complete assignments on deadline
  • Support other administrative editorial tasks as assigned

Job Specifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing or a related field
  • At least five (5) years of related work experience in a professional environment
  • Strong storytelling, writing, editing and proofreading skills, with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Strong understanding of web architecture and technologies, including web performance monitoring tools
  • Ability to confidently communicate ideas and interview subject matter experts, including doing the necessary research ahead of the interview
  • Ability to work independently under tight deadlines and prioritize responsibilities
  • Ability to work within a collaborative team environment and develop cross-functional relationships
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word)
  • Knowledge of WordPress, UI design and SEO principles
  • Knowledge of AP Style writing guidelines
