The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recently sent letters to clinicians informing them if they were required to participate in the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) in 2017. Clinicians that bill $30,000 or more in Medicare Part B allowed charges a year, and also provide care for more than 100 Part B-enrolled Medicare beneficiaries a year are required to participate in 2017. The letters were sent to the address associated with the Tax Identification Number (TIN).
A sample letter is available here.
A sample Attachment A which lists the clinicians associated with the TIN is available here.
A sample Attachment B which is a FAQ document is available here.
Clinicians are also able to check their MIPS eligibility online. More information on this tool is available here.
