PA Rural Health Model: Year Two Participating Hospitals Announced

January 21, 2020

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced the 13 hospitals participating in the Pennsylvania Rural Health Model during performance year 2. Of the 13 hospitals, eight are new participants.

This state-level model is one of three CMS is currently testing. The PA Rural Health Model provides global budgets to rural hospitals to improve the quality of care. The agency is hopeful this model will improve population health in rural communities and engagement with rural physicians in alternative payment models. The model is expected to run through 2024. Additional information about the model can be found on the CMMI PA Rural Health Model website and the PA Department of Health Rural Health Model website.
