During its public meeting on Friday, October 5, 2018, the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) will consider a staff analysis of two aspects of a stay-based unified prospective payment system (PPS) for post-acute care. This model includes an episode-based payment design. The development of two uniformly defined outcomes-based measures—discharge to community and a measure of potentially avoidable admissions and readmissions in acute care hospitals—will also be discussed.
A brief of the scheduled discussion is available here. The full agenda for the October 4-5, 2018, MedPAC meeting is available here.
MedPAC is an independent congressional agency established by the Balanced Budget Act of 1997 (P.L. 105-33) to advise the U.S. Congress on issues affecting the Medicare program. More information on MedPAC is available on their website.
