The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (Innovation Center) posted the final report evaluating the Graduate Nurse Education (GNE) Demonstration. An overview of the major findings can be found here.
This demonstration provided payments to five participating hospitals covering the costs of training advanced practice registered nursing (APRN) students. Overall, the demonstration led to a 54% increase in enrollment and a 67% increase in graduation of APRN students in participating hospitals. The average cost to CMS of supporting the clinical education of an additional APRN student to graduation was $47,172.
More information about the demonstration can be found on the GNE demonstration website.
