As part of the ongoing White House Coronavirus Task Force efforts, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and other agencies have issued several resource documents, refocused activities related to state survey agencies and accrediting organizations, and taken other related actions. Key updates from this past week include:
The agency has suspended the Advance Payment Program for Medicare Part B providers and suppliers and is reevaluating the Accelerated Payment Program.
CMS released a Medicaid and CHIP telehealth toolkit to provide states with additional information to transition more care to the virtual setting to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Providers receiving funds from the Provider Relief Fund second wave of allocated money ($20B) must submit their most recent IRS tab filings and estimates of lost revenues for March and April 2020.
The portal is now open for providers to apply for reimbursement for COVID-19 testing and treatment for the uninsured.
CMS issued guidance for licensed independent freestanding emergency departments to participate in Medicare and Medicaid during the public health emergency.
