As part of the ongoing White House Coronavirus Task Force efforts, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and other agencies have issued several resource documents, refocused activities related to state survey agencies and accrediting organizations and taken other related actions. Key updates from this past week include:
As part of the Administration’s Operation Warp Speed, HHS announced a task order with Emergent BioSolutions to advance manufacturing capabilities and capacity for a potential COVID-19 vaccine.
CMS issued a summary document detailing how facilities can seek payments through CMS programs for acute inpatient and outpatient care furnished at alternate care sites.
CMS updated their Medicare FFS billing FAQ to include new answers related to telehealth in rural settings, distant and originating site flexibilities, and other COVID-19 billing related questions.
CMS issued this updated Medicare Learning Network article to provide additional information about the correct use of the “CR” modifier and “DR” condition code when submitting claims.
An inventory of these documents and more is available here: McDermottPlus COVID Guidance Tracker.
CMS is documenting its COVID-19 activities on their Current Emergencies website.
