The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) proposed changes to the Home Health Quality Reporting Program (QRP) for CY 2020. The program currently has 19 reporting requirements.
The proposed rule adds an additional reporting requirement to the Home Health QRP addressing the transfer of health information when a patient is discharged or transferred from a post-acute care facility. CMS also proposes the adoption of standardized patient assessment data elements to assess cognitive function and mental status, special services, and treatments and interventions, among other things. These additional quality reporting requirements aim to increase coordinated care. Finally, CMS proposes to remove the Improvement in Pain Interfering with Activity Measure from the Home Health QRP to mitigate potential opioid overprescribing.
A list of all current measures included in the Home Health QRP can be found on the Home Health Compare website.
Further details on the proposed changes can be found in the CMS fact sheet, press release or the full text of the proposed rule.
