CMS Seeking Feedback on Value in Opioid Use Disorder Treatment Demonstration

The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) is soliciting stakeholder feedback on the Value in Opioid Use Disorder Treatment Demonstration Program. The Value in Treatment initiative is a 4-year demonstration that was created through the Substance Use-Disorder Prevention that Promotes Opioid Recovery and Treatment for Patients and Communities Act (SUPPORT Act). The program is designed to increase access to opioid use disorder treatment services, improve physical and mental health outcomes for applicable beneficiaries, and reduce Medicare expenditures. CMMI will be accepting public comments through July 28, 2020, and will be incorporating these comments into the design of the demonstration, which is expected to start no later than January 2021.
