CMS Reviews New Payment Model on SNF Open Door Forum

September 17, 2019

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is hosting the next skilled nursing facilities (SNF)/long term care (LTC) Open Door Forum on Thursday, September 19 from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM (ET). The call will provide updates on the newly approved Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM).

The new PDPM will overhaul the current methodology for classifying patients under the SNF prospective payment system. Replacing the Resource Utilization Group-IV (RUG-IV) patient classification system, the PDPM will take effect on October 1, 2019. This new model classifies patients into payment groups based on specific, clinically significant factors rather than volume-based services.

The full agenda and call-in information can be found here.
