On Friday, October 14, 2016, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released the highly anticipated Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) final rule.
The final rule can be downloaded here. McDermottPlus will be posting a summary and highlights from the final rule shortly.

MACRA will fundamentally change how Medicare pays physicians by consolidating various physician quality programs and creating a pathway to encourage the transition of Medicare payment for physician services from fee-for service to value-based payment. Through the new Quality Payment Program (QPP) clinicians will have to choose whether to have their performance measured under the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) or to participate in an advanced alternative payment model.
McDermottPlus’s multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, data analysts and regulatory and legislative experts are developing resources to help medical professional societies, health service providers and product companies understand and analyze this transformative change to the Medicare physician payment system.
