The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the Medicare Advantage (MA) and Part D landscape files for 2019. The files include information on MA plan options, premiums, and benefit design. CMS projects that MA enrollment will increase 11.5%, with 22.6 million Medicare beneficiaries expected to enroll in MA (nearly 37 percent).
As a result of new flexibility related to supplemental benefits, CMS reports that in 2019 about 270 plans are providing nearly 1.5 million enrollees with new types of benefits, including expanded supplemental benefits like adult day care services and in-home services; and reduced cost sharing and additional benefits for enrollees with certain health conditions, such as diabetes.
The information comes as Medicare Open Enrollment approaches.
