CMS Appoints New Senior Medical Advisor for Innovation

In early January 2019, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) appointed Dr. Anand Shah as the Senior Medical Advisor for Innovation at CMS. Reporting directly to CMS Director Seema Verma, he will lead efforts across CMS to advance medical innovation.

Dr. Shah is a radiation oncologist and previously held the position of chief medical officer at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation and worked at National Cancer Institute and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). At the FDA he helped grow the FDA Oncology Center of Excellence big data initiative into a health technology incubator for strategic partnerships, research and innovation.
