The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced the Material Opioid Misuse (MOM) model as part of the agency’s strategy for combating the opioid crisis. The model addresses coordination of clinical care and other services with the goal of improving quality and reducing costs for mothers and infants.
CMS anticipates releasing a notice of funding opportunity in early 2019 to solicit up to 12 cooperative agreements with states whose Medicaid agencies, along with care delivery partners, will implement the model. A maximum of $64.5 million will be available for state awardees over five years.
