CMS Administrator Encourages Participation in Expanded Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program Model

May 01, 2018

In a blog post on April 30, 2018, CMS Administrator Seema Verma encouraged community-based organizations to enroll to participate in the Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program (MDPP).  The MDPP model is a national performance-based payment model that offers a new approach to preventing type 2 diabetes for certain Medicare beneficiaries.  It is the CMS Innovation Center’s first preventive services model to be expanded nationwide.  Through the model, community-based organizations can enroll as Medicare Suppliers to provide evidence-based prevention services after achieving preliminary or full recognition through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  Eligible organizations may enroll now.  Additional information is available here.
